EU and Azerbaijan resume negotiations on a new bilateral agreement
On 2 and 3 June, Baku hosted the next round of negotiations of Partnership Priorities and the new Comprehensive Agreement between Azerbaijan and the European Union.
The talks coincided with the 30th anniversary of relations between the EU and Azerbaijan.
“Productive EU-Azerbaijan talks in Baku,” the EU Delegation to Azerbaijan posted on Facebook. “Negotiators provisionally concluded the text of the Partnership Priorities and officially resumed negotiations on a new EU-Azerbaijan bilateral agreement. We remain focused on stronger political dialogue, connectivity and economic cooperation.”
EU relations with Azerbaijan are based on the EU-Azerbaijan Partnership and Cooperation Agreement, in force since 1999. The EU is the main investor in Azerbaijan and its largest trade partner.
