EU's traditional EuroVillage event to be held in Azerbaijan's Ganja this year

The European Union's (EU) traditional EuroVillage event will be held in the city of Ganja in June of this year, EU Ambassador to Azerbaijan Marijana Kujundžić announced at an event held on the occasion of Europe Day.

"Our traditional EuroVillage event will be held in the beautiful city of Ganja in June of this year. I would like to invite each of you to this event and hope that we will all meet there in a few weeks," the ambassador said.

She noted that this year is particularly significant for Azerbaijan and the EU, as the sides are celebrating the 30th anniversary of a partnership based on trust, stability, and shared prosperity.

She also thanked Azerbaijan for the humanitarian aid provided to Ukraine.

The ambassador emphasized that the EU considers the support of peace, stability, and international law beyond Europe's borders as an essential part of its security. According to her, this is precisely why the EU considers the stability and prosperity of the South Caucasus important from a security standpoint and views the future of the sides as interconnected.

She noted that the EU will continue to support the peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia, including through the development of transport infrastructure and demining initiatives, where the EU is already the largest donor.

Kujundžić also stated that following the recent incident involving an Iranian drone in Nakhchivan, the EU expressed its unequivocal support to Baku. According to her, shortly after the incident, President of the European Council António Costa visited Baku, expressing solidarity with the people of Azerbaijan.
