Azərbaycanla Avropa İttifaqı arasındakı münasibətlər yeni və daha əhəmiyyətli bir mərhələyə qədəm qoyur. Bir vaxtlar əsasən enerji əməkdaşlığı ilə müəyyən edilən münasibətlər, bağlantı, regional təhlükəsizlik, yaşıl enerji və iqtisadi inteqrasiyanı əhatə edən daha geniş strateji tərəfdaşlığa çevrilir. Son yüksək səviyyəli diplomatik əlaqələr göstərir ki, Brüssel Azərbaycana getdikcə daha çox təbii qaz təchizatçısı kimi baxır, hətta dünyanın ən həssas bölgələrindən birində əvəzolunmaz geosiyasi tərəfdaş kimi də.
Buna görə də, Avropa Şurasının prezidenti António Costanın səfərləri və Avropa Komissiyasının prezidenti Ursula fon der Leyenin hazırkı səfəri diplomatik protokoldan daha çox şeyi simvolizə edir. Bunlar Brüsseldə Azərbaycanın Cənubi Qafqazda və ondan kənarda Avropanın uzunmüddətli maraqlarının mərkəzinə çevrildiyinin artan tanınmasını əks etdirir.

Eyni dərəcədə diqqətəlayiq olan məqam, Azərbaycanın regional lider və Cənubi Qafqazda sülh gündəliyinə mühüm töhfə verən rolunun tanınması, Prezident İlham Əliyevin regional inkişafların formalaşmasında liderliyinin tanınmasıdır.
